CANCER STRICKEN FARMER NEEDS YOUR HELP

NEW MOON FARM 2010 CSA
-UPDATED INFORMATION-

We have not had a winter like this in a long time. It has been very wet and cold and without some warmer days in between, the soil is taking a long time to dry out. That means that many farmer's are going to be a tad behind in getting their early season crops in the ground and we will be no exception. It is what it is and you can't change it, so you adjust. That is the nature of farming.

Here at the Farm, we have been taking stock of the situation and have decided that a slight adjustment to CSA is prudent, so we have changed our 2010 CSA time frame. The 2010 CSA will now open on May 8th and end on July 31st (no pick up Sat. Jul. 3rd). These new dates help us by relieving some of the pressure of the late beginning season. The change also means that CSA members will be able to participate in a wider range of produce as we move from spring into summer.

We expect the month of May should provide members with lettuces, spring greens, root crops such as beets and carrots, bok choi, snap peas and other late spring items. June will see the addition of basil, beans, squash and maybe the first ripened tomatoes of the season. In July, we will see the addition of tomatoes, eggplant, cucumbers and peppers, as they come into their season. The focus of this year's CSA will be on heirloom and gourmet varieties, chosen for taste and quality, as opposed to productivity. Cooking with fresh herbs will be a theme this year and we will be adding many new varieties to our crop list.

For those of you new to New Moon Farm and our CSA, please use the menu on the left of this page. Please feel free to contact the Farm directly, if you have questions or need more info.
