OTHER POINTS OF INTEREST

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. In basic terms, a CSA consists of a community of individuals who pledge support to a farm operation so that the farmland becomes, either legally or spiritually, the community's farm, with growers and consumers providing mutual support and sharing the risks and benefits of food production. Members or shareholders of the farm or garden pledge, in advance, to cover the anticipated costs of the farm operation and the farmer's salary. In return, they receive shares in the farm's bounty throughout the growing season, as well as the satisfaction gained from reconnecting to the land. Members also share in risks, including poor harvest due to unfavorable weather or pests. --CSA, as defined by USDA

2012 CSA PARTICULARS

  • NEW MOON CSA is a little different than it has been in the past because I am working with a collective group of other local farmers. While I will still be growing and producing some items forinclusion in shares, New Moon is no longer the exclusive supplier for this CSA. By utilizing the diversity of other farms and growers in this area, I can now provide a broader selection of produce and fruit for this CSA members. The "long story" here will give you more detailed information about what to expect for the 2012 season.
  • All you have to do is come and to pick up your weekly share of produce, fruit, etc. each week at your chosen pick up location. New Moon does not offer delivery any longer. You may email me with specific questions.
  • CSA has access to a number of value added options as the season progresses but none of these items are guaranteed. As always, I will have access to grass fed and/or free range meats, poultry and egg producers, which will be offered as they become available. Artisans producing high quality goat and cow cheeses are on board, as are several other producers of real, authentic farm goods like cane and sorghum molasses and beautiful golden honeys.
